Credit Card Blues

Dont have a credit card.
Please, if you are a card executive (and there seems to be one for every street) dont get too excited and think of sending an application by email now.
I know the benefits and if I still dont have one, its not because of my excessive income and desire to avoid filing tax returns.And its also not because I am working for some secret intelligence service.And no I am not a student, as wondered by Sunny.
On the contrary students probably use the credit card and mobile more. And wont be suprised if in certain strata, its decided that not giving credit card and a mobile to your child is child abuse. Just like not allowing your kid to watch Pogo for 12 hours, is thought by many as child abuse.
Credit card has its uses. I suppose its a grand feeling.The feeling of unlimited credit (the statement comes at the end of the month only). Thats not the same as opening your wallet and discovering you have just Rs.108.25.And you can always shop on the net, without looking embarassed and having to explain or wonder if someone from your neighbourhood is looking at you.
And I believe if you have one, you will get more. And you can settle the bill of one through another. And still get another one.
Well to come back to the point, I dont have a credit card because to use my neighbourhood Aunty's term "I havent settled down yet". Yeah I am between jobs.
The credit card executives get fussy when I leave the annual income blank.
And Speck dear, you said we were buddies, how about giving me an add on cardand giving me a feeling of dignity?

Jups dear would love to give u an add on card but then you would lack motivation to find income and if u dont have income cant imagine u gttin settled so sorry, no card for u:)

One More Reason to Watch Soaps

Last WeekA popular soap on Jaya TV watched by Mom intently.
Scene 1A mother talks to a girl before her first night.Seems the girl doesnt like the guy she married and had loved someone else.I wish my mother had taped it, the dialogues were sooo cliched.On the role of the women. I think the wrath of the father is mentioned too.
Scene2The first night for the Bride. Its the 1001th night for the Bridegroom. He wants the bride to fight. That turns him on. And a struggle starts then suddenly he dies (heart attack?) and falls back on the bed.
Scene3The parents enters and the girl cries out shrilly "Naan onnum panalai Appa" (I didnt do anything Dad!)
Time for me to burst into laughter and now I am shooed into the other room and cant update you folks.
I am smirking everytime I think "Naan Onnum Panalai Appa"

yes some serials r such a big hit that personalities r influenced by them to a gr8 extent. reminded of the times when people watched Ramayan and Mahabharath taking bath early and lighting the agarbathis in front of the screens!!!

jupiter :)) and pramod lol peshwa chithi was a very popular serial in Tamilnadu, sun tv, 9.30pm weekly. actually i thought it was quite good. i think it was a failure in hindi though (dont know which channel, chotti ma or something) kamikapadum means, will be shown. since the parents prbly thought many might skip the wedding for chitti, better to screen it..during the reception still cant stop laughing at the thought:) pramod i think, some do try to show crick matches, though of course i dont think they will put it on the invite:D

pramod !! OMG, thats so horrible. i wonder how the couple agreed ! (or were they also seeing the serials :D) some years back - the earthquake and lets go back and watch chitti now, was true among my neighbours too. a pity the earth didnt shake a bit and scare them:D, it would have taught those folks a good lesson. serial over life !! now i wonder if some would notice an earthquake during these serials..if the tv doesnt fall..

Forward for Food

Met him, at a relative's wedding. And we chatted casually, about what we knew, or didnt knew about the bride and groom.
He asked me what I would expect in my husband. Actually I have a big list, now that I am living away from my family.It would start with a guy who is willing to clean the vessels. Cooking is ok now, atleast you are motivated by hunger and the price of food in the restaurants.But washing.... urgh.
But couldnt tell that to him (perhaps now I realise I should have told him that).
Anyway, said Sense of humour. I think many girls will agree with me.So the next time the circus is in the city, you will check out the joker, he asked.
Uh Oh. I wonder if I can be rude, cool or laugh..Hey I dont mind this from my buddy Jupiter, but I have met him for only 30 minutes.Anyway I dont want to upset his mom (already the wicked brain is thinking if his mom thinks I am a "possiblity" she is going to call me over atleast couple of times. And that means home food with no washing vessels. Yippeee) So I smile and pretend to see someone else and move.
And make a beeline for his mom. She is enthusiastic about me and invites me for lunch.Aaaaaaah haa mission accomplished I thought.
The food was delicious but conscience speaks and I am pretty cool and subdued to him. And dont go beyond a hi.That worsens things as they think I am a cute and shy and so adorable.
I escape from giving my msgr saying one cant chat during office hours and dont get time from home. Mobile number : I am just going to change to another subscriber so will give new number next week. But I end up giving my email id.
And then my inbox has a deluge of forwards.The forwards fall in 2 categoriesmen women (from men's viewpoint of course)sardarji/bihari Uh telling me in 15 different forwards that I like shopping,when I am saving every rupee for paying my loan, isnt amusing and doesnt make me roar with laughter.
And pleazzzzzzzzzz do we need a sardarji jokes even now.
Funny doesnt mean laughing at someone fat, thin, short or whatever. (This he didnt do, but I find movies with that attitude irritating, thankfully movies like that reducing)
I dont care whether he was just being friendly or trying to woo me. Just blocked his email, and decided the yummy food wasnt worth the stupid forwards.

Forwards !!! gosh!! sometimes we cant stop them..imagine its from a colleague suddely somethign official might come..so cant block either.Filters r not too effective..me hates fwds. But guess i wud tolerate anything for good food :) just check-deleting fwds is not gonna be a tuff task if the food i sooo good.

speck : Well i wud never block anyones emails or any id on chat. If i have a problem with someone i wud tell them that. I guess u can always tell him that u dont like his fwds. U sure will get another meal, and if he makes a move, u cud also tell him that u dont quite like to take this further. And what i do when i want veetu saapadu is call up ppl i know and tell them i am coming home :D:D:D

Sivakasi Damp Squib

Just when one thinks one has the seen the mother of all retro movies in Priyasakhi (Where the problems are solved by slapping the women in the climax). One sees Sivakasi
The formuala for Love according to the movie :Wear shorts and a skimpy top and get molested. (though I know girls who wear salwar kameez and still get molested)The hero asks, why you are wearing only panties and bra and suggests something like half sari to get respect from men. (Its ok to show off the waist not the thighs, the logic?)And the heroine falls in love. Wow.
There may be people like that, fine. Since I would be uncomfortable in shorts and skimpy tops, I certainly wouldnt tell women,lets wear it.
But its funny when movies preach. A miniscule percentage of women in real life wear minis. But atleast one woman in almost all the movies wear a mini.
The heros who preach have in the past acted in movies with women dressed in "hot" clothes. And they are not just actors but stars who mouth dialogues for their fans. So now their fans are going to think its ok to molest women, after all its Her fault. And so what if the girl is not dressed in shorts.
Next time the stars like Vijay advise women on what to wear, perhaps they should advise their producers and directors to avoid sleaze atleast in that movie, and to reflect on the movies they had done in the past.
I am pretty tired of movie makers who think lets titillate the audience with sleaze for box office success.
But its more sick when the heros become a success by acting with heroines who titillate and then preach in movies. And suprise suprise, these movies also dont keep out sleaze either!!!

i think there are good directors in every language. other than mani ratnam and balachander (who makes decent serials now and some fab movies earlier) there r directors like shankar, bala, hari, etc who dont make retro movies and i cant think of a kamal movie which is retro.. been lucky enough to see some good tamil movies.

Oh inefficient ones needs to be firedAnd I would love to tell my local MLA You are fired!
But at the receiving end...The world collapses...Its not just rejection , which happens when a person turns down a proposal..One of the worse feelings in the world is letting those who depend on you down..And when one loses a job, thats what one feels.
The sinking feeling..Of wondering how the family will survive
So much of what we are in the society depends on what we do for a living..
When one is fired, its not just the money and the security, we lose perhaps our sense of self worth and perhaps respect from the society..
Apprentice is an interesting show,but when Donald says "You are fired"Somehow I cant help feeling I have been punched..

Ouch!!!!! Been there,gone thru that.Abt a year n a half back when i was given the sack when the co decided to review its HR policy.Though i had just started my career it was painful.Ohh u shud have gone in my mind n seen the evil plans i was plotting against the co people.It was like a young amitabh bachhan intent on taking revenge from the bad guys when he grows up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. But then i got a better offer n all that amuses me now. Hmm being fired or being turned down in love........ dont know dude my worst rejection is being turned down a drink in a bar coz ure under age!!!!!!!

Gm bee... well mate, i just moved on after dat... cudnt bear to see dat BOZO's face ftr dat..!!! i was on my own for some months until dis AMAZING offer to work (at my current office) came along... d best part's d 5-day week over here...(which is very rare today). now, i still manage to pursue my own projects (mostly residential interiors)during d weekends... thnx mate...

Hi Jupiter Nice post n thots. Such rejections can be all the more painful when they are least expected. In some cases, people are aware of what's coming, so they are prepared, but a bolt out of the blue can be devastating.

mornin mates (i.e. J & S)... i know wot u r talkin bout mate... about a year back i had a similar feelin wen d project dat i was doin was given to another Architect by my client (a very prominent Builder from Mumbai). wot really irked me is dat i had left my well payin job a couple of months back (on his word) to do his house as dis was d oppurtunity of a lifetime...! though he admitted dat der wer no flaws in my proposal, his wife & daughter (being conservative Muslims) had problems interacting with me.... hence d job was being given to a female architect... GOSH... and i was supposed to believe dat crap... and wot d hell wer dey doin wen i was visiting der place to show my designs... talk bout reverse GENDER discrimination... anyways, good post mate... say hi to speck...

Clothes - better buys during discount sale. Nowadays we buy clothes during festive season and discount season.
Fireworks - pollution and perhaps child labour
TV prgs : Mostly terrible
Building get togethers : More on am I wearing something better than...and my atom bomb makes more sound than...
Gifts from clients : Smooth corruption
A day to give : Pity we need days to remind us, but then yeah great if underpriveileged ones benefit
A day to be with family and friends : Surely not just festivals but yeah point taken
Holiday : Yeah I know who would remember Gandhi if not for Gandhi jayanthi. Holidays are important.
Prayers : Why only on some occassions.
Expression of joy : I hate this appointment with pleasure concept. Many Celebrate when they feel good. Guess we celebrate festivals to FEEL Good. But do we really feel better?
I dont know about others, but whenever its festival time, I dont Feel different.
I dont have to eat sweets, party or wear something expensive to feel good. Or give to some needy and reduce the guilt and feel good. Worse are New Year parties. When there is a big hype around a second and a countdown. And I ask myself do I feel different now then what I felt last second.
Celebrations are important.But why cant they be spontaneous too? Life needs excitement but perhaps the celebrations and its expressions are becoming cliched.But enough of my broodings.

Samy :d well it was more of buddy Speck's idea than mine, but now I am using this blog more and she is sulking (jus kidding jus kidding speck no need to don the boxing gloves) speck is prbly dressed to kill and hoping to find the guy of her dreams will definitely drop in:) yes its more for togetherness, but i think it just puts more pressure on the family too. earlier it used to just interaction, now with people yelling happy diwali at you, u think u ought to feel on top of the world, and when u dont, u just get irritated and show perhaps on the family:D well the cure of course is to sit together and watch tv. but with multi channels and each member has a diff channel to watch.. families perhaps frown.. well not all families of course..

yummmmmmmm chocos :D those who get all appreciate nothing... today we need not wait till Diwali for sweets or clothes..so the excitement does reduce from these stuff. (of course firecrackers we dont burst everyday) added to this is the pressure of hype and the marketing ppl who come up with endless things which are supposed 2 make u feel great.. we feel no different today than yday.. sure its nice to get ecards and fun to send them.. but guess what, i like to suprise greeting cards of have a nice day, and i am pretty sure that brings more fun to those who get.. its like the emperor's new clothes.. i think most just feel no different but go around creating false enthu on diwali.. enough of my cynic, now speck is goin to kill me :d happy diwali to all:)

Thank you busybee:) Vineeta, thank you and you are right, the victims would have gone out to just celebrate Diwali and now their family is going to suffer and their lives have changed forever. its not just the dead ones but also those who lost an arm, leg etc. I hope the terrorists suffer in hell for making others lives a living hell. for whatever its worth, my prayers for the survivors.

bhavna thanks:) forbidden we celebrate when we feel good and we also celebrate to feel good:) perhaps i am numb, but i dont feel different on Diwali.. Diwali is perhaps the most hyped festival and when it arrives, u expect to feel wonderful and on that day, u feel duh... on spon. celebs. hmmm why not right now. we all celebrate life in different ways, though the convention seems to be sweets clothes etc.. but for me it starts with a smile ..and doing what i want to do, (without hurtin others) even if its going back to dozing and dreaming :D Happy Deepavali to you too forbidden:)

What!! Do a post on fab women on TV and movies and their eyes, Peshwa??? Never!
For me to think a women is fantastic,just lovely eyes arent enough. If I happen to like Halle, Sharon Stone and Angelina or Antara, Sushmita, Kajol, Bipasha, Mallika its not for their eyes. And please not just their obvious assets either..Personality counts.
Dont care if the blogworld thinks I am gay (of course I will care if my world thinks I am gay), but here is my list of women who are supposed to be gorgeous and fabulous but I just find repelling. I am not going to bother with their pics, because their pics are bombarded everyday by the media..
1.Kareena Kapoor and Trisha, I despise them equally and wanted to ask Mani Ratnam if he personally knew my dislikes when he cast them in the same role for Yuva and its Tamil version.
2.Amisha Patel, thankfully not much onscreen now and hope she doesnt start acting in a TV serial.
3.Paris Hilton If she wasnt rich, I dont know if I would see her on TV
4.Tulsi of Saas.. forgot her real name. I just hate her smirk which seems to be on her face all the time
5.Jennifer Aniston She is just toooo sachirine (But to be honest I dont dislike her, but just get tired of her)
6.Brit.Spears. Thankfully her mania is down, but still its not out.
7.Simi G She may look great, but she probably can make the most interesting personality, sound absolutely dumb (Hope she is not around now). If possible lemme include Shobha De.
And just another wish that I didnt have to see the following on TV
8.Female politicians like Mayawati, Uma Bharathi. They are bad ads for females in politics. Let them do something for their constituency leave alone country and then come on TV. Yeah I dislike plenty of male politicians too.
9.All the anchor persons,including Burkha (sorry). Either they are smug or they stammer or they are shrill. Have to admit that the men arent better
10.VJs I am tired of them acting cute. Same for male VJs.
11.All the well dressed women who glare or sob in soaps. The culture vultures go gaga if a woman appears in a bikini, but doesnt care, if in soap after soap, all these women seem to do is plot, plot and plot. (Sorry but jassi also Now included). And that includes Ekta Kapoor too.
10.The dumb female cricket commentators. If Sania is playing, would it be ok if a topless hunk gives a dumb commentary. Women welcome to be on commentary team, but please get basic knowledge about cricket.
So am I the only one, who is repelled?
PS : Its unlikely that the persons I have mentioned will read this post. But if you read, hope you are not offended. I wouldnt like this kinda post on me, but hey I dont appear on the media every 2nd day.

Women are beautiful creatures who, like their male counterparts, can be a success in whatever they do. The problem with some men, is that they have this narrowminded attitude towards women. They think she is dumb but pretend as though they support her. Stop lusting over us, and start supporting us and give us feedback that we can use.

Ah! BTW, did you miss the Rhittik Roshans great topple from 50 meters/feet. My sunday morning was wasted watching animated depiction of how Hrittik fell down from a highrising building and still remained unscathed. The reporters spoke to Rakesh Roshan, Hrittik, his in laws, his siter, his chaparasi, his cook, his ex-lover, his fans, and everyone they could lay their hand upon. It was gloomy & rainy morning in Kolkata and I just wanted to know how long it was going to remain so. But the news took eternity to come on Star NEWS screen as Hrittik's 50 meter fall was more important than the plight of lakhs of people in a waterlogged city.

yash ur right in a way for eg if kareena my neighbour i would just ignore her and not repelled by her (based on looks) and the media hype is a factor. and after all paris might be a nice person but the media wont care about other parts of her life.. when it comes to anchors and vjs and the politicians and mandira bedi etc.. wont change even if i know them personally. i am not sayin they are bad, just that i dont like them..

Hi Jupiter! Interesting comments though, but i presume that what opinion someone has about others may not be shared by the rest. The people whom you like may be hated by others and vice versa. I wonder if you know all of them personally to comment on their personality. Your comments about them may be based upon the what the media has projected them as and not what they truly are.

Benazir Bhutto and her type (Seikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia) are simply there because some relative of theirs were in the same field. Ms. Indira Gandhi also became PM the same way but atleast she had some substance. Women like Benazir Bhutto are worthless. I have heard her shouting hoarse in PTV 15 yrs back, "Kashmir Azad karo, Hindustan Murdabad". It never happened. But she definitely kept becoming pregnant for whatever reason and ultimately got azadi from her own Godforsaken country.

Hi Sachin. I certainly do read about Tendulkar, Ronaldinho, Sania Mirza and many more sports celebrities . But I do not feel like reading how many times Kurnikova flashed her belly button in front of the camera while she was losing a set against her opponent. Oh yes. I stopped reading Times of India since they started putting more emphasis on Page 3. Its an utter wastage of time when you read about the personal life of a God knows who. Hypocrisy is not the word I choose to describe my attitude. I just dont like be a sheep to be led by. Yes conditions and people do make news. 50,000 death in Kashmir made news. Cyclone Wilma made news. Iraqi prisoners in Baghdad made news. But did you turn your eyes to those pages in the newspaper. Perhaps you did but only after gobbling up the ill-cooked, ill-presented, greazy froth of Page 3. A soul-searcher may be a hypocrite but only in your dictionary.

Boss that was a good thought worth to be written on a blog. I really enjoyed reading it though I was a girl. Also very happy that a guy has written this blog coz its guys who take these people to new heights.You need to accept the reality as it is. The only problem I see here is this. We take these stars who appear on Big screen and Television to a much greater height which they dont really deserve. They are just sterotypes who keep talking the same stuff and they are so artificial.Hope the trend changes where all the programmes are flodded with these starts and serials. There are much more to be thought and hope production houses think of giving such quality programs rather than making us more dumb and sentimental fools. Lat but not the leasr dont forget to write about women who impressed you a lot.

U are right dear Jupiter, about the ladies you have mentioned. Personally I find them stale. Who knows what they are like in real life, I mean apart from the looks. My wife is not a great looker but she’s a fabulous person to be with She's the life of a party or a get together. She can talk and charm. There are so many ladies I have met in my lifetime who could charm guys' pants off (pun intended), just with their personality. I'll tell u frankly that most of the good lookers go D'uh when they open their mouth! Do u agree? I suppose the lookers are too busy with their looks and forget abt the rest. Skin deep?! you are more than correct. You are right on the spot. I couldn't have agreed more especially on the soap operas. These operas are simply fodder for the dumbs. But believe me there are billions of dumbs turning on their TV sets just to watch banarasi claded, jewelery laden oomphis vamps and their sati sawitri counterparts having verbal WWF. Look at the big sponsers they get. I wonder if National Geographic or History channel gets even 1/100 Saas Vs Bahu viewership. Our country is full of too many rotten brain morons. Its a pity but it is so.

GuysAll guys are cute, some guys are cuter and well going to write about those who I think are the cutest of them all on the idiot box and silver screen.
Eyes Look into my eyes...sings Bryan Adams (in my mind of course) as I try to write a post on my favourite guys from TV/movies, and their strong point, their eyes. Eyes do seem to say a lot, or do they to me only??

So can you guess who they are? Clue : No.8 is the lone Indian . 2 4 10 are from the movies
SighsIts probably good acting or cool contact lens or great lighting..Surely I am being dumb in liking these guys and thinking its just their fabulous eyes..
Hope I dont come out as an eye gorging serial killer..

I guess I am suffering from weekend blues
When Dear Jupiter I seem to miss you too:D

I never thought I would miss anyone or anything
I thought living alone (though I have 2 share it with 2 girls)
would be Fantastic and just Freedom and Fun
But without family (to look after you) & friends (to hang out), its not much fun.

Everyone at work today are talking about their weekend plans
And I am sick to death about people asking about my weekend plans.

Oh its not because I dont have plans.
Lets start with washing the clothes for the next week and getting them ironed.

Cleaning up my corner of the room.
and sob sob its my turn this week to clean the bathroom.

And testing couple of recipes, (even I hated what I cooked last week)

Oh we have to go shopping for grocery and vegetables

And I am not sure what exactly my roommates mean when they say settle the accounts

Hope they dont intend to kick me out within a week.

I thought it would be wonderful to have lunch at a new eatout everyday
But its different when parents pay

So thats the weekend plan
I seem to have jumped into the fire from the pan

What a pity,
Life isnt what they show, in Sex and the City

hey! I dunno, i kinda like living alone, and yeah about the laundry and the grocery shopping...just do it on weekdays, when u are back from office al tired. Get it all over with and have a great refreshing weekend. trust me, its been working like a charm for me for over 2 yrs now. My flatmate will vouch!

Atlast she has discovered life. She doesnt have to worry about waking you up. And pester you to get ready. And cook something that you would eat. And she doesnt have to worry if you had charged your mobile, got the train pass, or if you have taken the glasses or worn the lens or worry about you getting into a fight, or wash the stains on ur tops or get them ironed etc.

And atlast she can watch TV without feeling guilty. So dont worry about me taking care of her. When you are not around, she can has time and the energy to take care of herself.

but I really dont know something interesting to say
How about winning a fancy dress competition in my 3rd std
Awww surely I should come up with something recent..

Though my family and friends have made me feel special.

Yes I am the sun though not a son, in my parents life.
